Eye Contact---too much?...too little?

Dec 01, 2018

Hi...how are you doing...hope all is well...

It is easy to wonder are we making enough eye contact or too much eye contact when talking with people. We don't want to stare at someone but maintaining a lot of eye contact will increase the chances someone will like you. Good eye contact also is a sure sign and appearance of confidence. The best eye contact happens when two people look at each other is a soft mutual gaze.

Marvin Brown in his book, "How to Meet and Talk to Anyone Anytime Anywhere" says to do these things if wanting to improve eye contact
--without crowding the person talking with, lean forward very slightly. This posture will help you maintain eye contact
--don't go to the extreme of focusing on someone's eyes. Instead, make casual eye contact by targeting the area from the bridge of the nose up to and around the eyebrows. It's fine to look away now and then for a brief time and in fact it will relieve any stress either of you might feel from too much eye contact. However, be careful not to switch your focus to someone or something else in your immediate surroundings.

To show the person I am interested in what their saying and listening I try to always be maintaining eye contact when their speaking and look away at times when I am speaking.

Plan on finishing editing my ebook soon and will make it available to everyone through these emails next week. The new title will be How To: Meet and Talk with Anyone...Anytime...Anywhere...including strangers.

take care,
Enjoy the holidays...
